Pigmentation

Pigmentation is a skin condition where melanocytes become overactive, producing increased quantities of irregular melanin. It can be as a result of hormonal changes such as pregnancy and contraceptives, sun damage or extreme inflammation. With pigmentation, the condition gets darker before it gets lighter as cell turnover increases, pigmentation underneath the dead skin cells is exposed. If you have pigmentation, results can take up to 12 months.

If you do not see results within this time, this could be indicative of deep dermal pigmentation where product application is not able to assist. It is recommended to avoid hot baths, humid places, and saunas to avoid worsening the pigmentation. Important to note once you have overactive melanocytes you will always need to manage them. Pigmentation can flare and reduce through your life span.
